Like the body, the head was build from "plasticard", with construction starting with the side panels and base (top left photo). These panels (and various others!)
were then bent, taped and cemented to make the basic head shape, as in the top right photo. To illuminate the eye panel of the final model, two hi-bright LEDs from Maplin were
fixed inside the head and wired with the cable exiting through a neck construction which was covered in plastacine and sculpted into shape. Using latex rubber, a mould of the
neck section was then taken, and is seen next to the head in the bottom left image. The plastacine was then removed from the head, the mould put back in position, and a
fiber glass resin poured in to cast a solid neck, and with two bolts set into the resin to allow the final head to be securely attached to the body.
The final head shown in the
bottom right photo features the completed neck, as well as a sliced piece of a plastic pen used for the "nose" section. Also shown in this picture are the completed muzzle gun
(made from an aluminum rod that slots into a smaller internal rod), as well as the eye panel (a devil to cut and make, but crafted to push-fit into place!) and the antenna
(made from brass wire and an aluminum mesh normally used in fibreglass repairs).
